🎤 Conference coming up!
I love giving presentations, and in a couple of weeks I’m very excited to be joining a fantastic lineup to speak at Access:Given! As well as putting my slides together, I’ve written you an article: Do graphs and charts need to be accessible?.
From the archives
Links and buttons are distinct elements but sometimes they can feel interchangeable. Back in 2023 I wrote about a method you can use to decide which to use; check it out: Buttons, links, and focus.
P.S. Don’t get me started on links that look like buttons and buttons that look like links. That’s a different ‘From the archives’ for another newsletter!
Elsewhere on the web
And finally, here are some of the more interesting bits and bobs I came across around the web during April:
- Your skip link targets may not need tabindex=-1 to work properly
- Don’t be afraid of the Big Long Page
- The major technical reasons why accessibility overlays don’t work
- Applying accessibility fixes with stealth for the greater good
- The WebAIM Million 2026
Anyway, I’m off to do some more work on my slides; see you again at the end of May, unless you’ve got a Access:Given ticket, in which case I’ll see you on the 13th! 👨🏫
